Job Summary:
The Cornerstone Shelter Intern provides trauma-informed, survivor-centered support to individuals accessing shelter, hotel, and 24/7 crisis line services. This role includes advocacy, safety planning, referrals, and helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment. Interns participate in required training and onboarding.

Experience/Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; students in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields preferred
- Experience or interest in nonprofit or advocacy work
- Strong communication skills and ability to support individuals in crisis
- Commitment to trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and anti-oppression practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Organized and able to maintain a clean, safe environment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- Multilingual skills and sexual assault certification a plus

Key Responsibilities
Direct Services
- Provide crisis line support, assist with providing food/hygiene products, and resources
- Shadow shelter intakes and support participants with basic needs
- Offer advocacy, emotional support, and resource connection
- Collaborating with staff and community partners
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shelter environment
- Assist with daily living support (meals, cleaning, supplies)
- Stay informed on policies, updates, and participant needs
- Complete accurate documentation and data entry
- Track services and report critical incidents as needed

- Attend trainings, supervision, and team meetings
- Support agency events and initiatives assigned
