Pay Range:  $22.50-$24.00 per hour

Job Summary:  The focus of this position is on assisting participants who have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, and/or human trafficking in our Emergency Services and Community & Economic Empowerment Services programs. The position will provide intensive individual advocacy, coaching, and case management services to victim/survivors as they progress toward economic and housing stability. This includes identification of barriers to housing, accessing/maintaining stable housing and income support, building assets, and increasing safety, through external resources as well as available rental assistance programs.  Advocacy is provided in a participant-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive and empathetic manner to victims of violence and abuse.   

Services are provided in the office, in the participant’s residence or in the community. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday and may require occasional evenings and weekends.

Experience/Qualifications:  Minimum of 1-2 years of experience providing direct services, preferably assisting unhoused individuals navigate the complexities of the social service system to address housing, financial, and other critical needs. Knowledge and experience in working with diverse, marginalized and underrepresented communities, and anti-oppression work. A bachelor’s degree in social work or related field or experience in the social service field are a plus.   
  • Experience providing direct services and advocacy to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence, sexual violence, and/or human trafficking using a survivor-centered and trauma-informed approach.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the interconnection between poverty, homelessness and domestic violence.
  • Strong communication skills. Fluency in another language is a plus. 
  • Ability to welcome and engage a diverse group of stakeholders with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Understand and work from the agency’s set of values and philosophical approaches; including harms-reduction/housing first, trauma-informed care, violence as a learned behavior, client-centered and led work, etc. Ability to set and uphold professional boundaries.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable vehicle are required for this role.

Essential Functions:  The responsibilities and work hours for this position will be divided between Emergency Services, and Community & Economic Empowerment Services’ Rapid Rehousing Program and Housing Trust Fund Program. Additionally, the role includes data entry and other administrative tasks.
  • Meet with Emergency Services residents as they enter the shelter to discuss housing-related goals, barriers, and needs and assist with participants referred to the CEES team for housing-related services. Enroll and support participants through Cornerstone’s housing programs as needed.
  • Supervise up to 6 advocates across the ES and CEES programs. Assist with training new staff and support ongoing training/development of existing staff. Assist with team meetings and department events alongside the department manager.
  • Act as first point of contact with referring agencies and partners including other domestic violence providers, homelessness services and county case workers.
  • Assist with all reporting requirements under the Rapid Rehousing Program and reviewing department staff data entry monthly.  Maintain complete and timely records in our databases in compliance with Cornerstone and stakeholders
  • Support the creation and maintenance of program materials.
